Banglalink Krishibazar

Project Name Banglalink Krishibazar

Project Timeline April 2014

Banglalink Krishibazar is a digital agricultural market platform designed to empower farmers and small traders in rural Bangladesh by facilitating direct and transparent trading. Implemented in Rangpur by Systems Solutions & Development Technologies Limited (SSD-TECH) in collaboration with Banglalink, the platform operates through an easy-to-use Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Users can simply dial 2474 to record and browse buy/sell advertisements for agricultural products, access information on pricing and availability, and connect directly with buyers or sellers. The platform addresses a significant challenge in the agricultural supply chain by minimizing the influence of middlemen and enabling real-time negotiations between parties.

It offers features such as ad management (including edit, delete, and renew options), real-time trading access, and expanded market reach, particularly for farmers and dealers in remote areas. What makes Krishibazar especially impactful is its user-centric design. The system was refined based on feedback from a market survey involving 75 rural farmers in Rangpur, ensuring it is accessible and effective for its intended users.

By promoting direct trade and improving market access, Banglalink Krishibazar represents a significant step toward digital inclusion and sustainable development in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.
